A well-known filmmaker and film critic, Aruna Vasudev is one of the world's foremost authorities on Asian cinema. With a PhD in film studies from the University of Paris, she is the Founder-President of NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema), Founder-Director of Osian's Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema and Founder-Editor of Cinemaya, The Asian Film Quarterly. She is also a Trustee of the Public Service Broadcasting Trust, India, and Forum for Art Beyond Borders, India.


A recipient of the Chevalier des Arts et des Letters and the Star of Italian Solidarity, she has authored books on Indian Cinema and has been a jury member in Cannes (Camera d'Or), Locarno, Thessaloniki, Singapore, Fajr (Tehran), Karlovy Vary, Istanbul, Antalya, Hawaii, Jeonju (Korea), Tallinn (Estonia) and many other international events and has been honored with the Kalpana Chawla Excellence Award for women.

Mr. Bharathan has 18 years of experience as Executive Producer of films, overseeing many big budget Tamil films such as Roja, Muthu (Dancing Maharaja), Saamy, and Kuselan. He has represented the Indian film industry in several international festivals and conferences such as Cannes, Toronto, Los Angeles and Tokyo International Film Festival. In 1998, he marketed the film Muthu (Dancing Maharaja) in Japan, which became a blockbuster and Bharathan was conferred the Business Ambassador Award forInnovative Marketing of a Film in a Cross-cultural Context.


He is currently a Visiting Faculty at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad (IIMA) teaching a course titled Contemporary Film Industry - A Business Perspective. The course was designed by him and is considered to be an "Innovation in Management Education in India" as it is the first of its kind to be taught in the IIMs. His community contribution includes Trustee of V-Excel Educational Trust, a non-profit foundation that assists children with learning disabilities.



Mr. Shyam Shroff can be rightly called a maverick, for his exceptional work in the film distribution sector. Starting at a very young age he quickly educated himself in the nitty-gritty of the film trade through his stint in his family's film financing company, Isaardas Naoomal, which had financed famous Hindi films likeDushman, Kafila, Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, Jhumroo, Howrah Bridge, Do Raaste, Guide, Aradhna, and An Evening in Paris among others.


The year 1975 was a turning point in Mr. Shyam Shroff's career because he chose to turn entrepreneur in partnership with his brother Mr. Balkrishna Shroff, to form Shringar Films, with focus solely on film distribution. Mr. Shroff's instinctive understanding of the market and his passion for cinema helped Shringar Films become the largest film distribution house in India. He commands a lot of respect within the film fraternity, for being instrumental in revolutionizing Indian cinema through his support of films like Khamosh Paani, Dance like a Man, Hyderabad Blues, Ardh Satya, Kamasutra, Fire, Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa, Missed call, Bariwali, Kandukondain Kandukondain, and Bhopal Express, to mention a few.

Rohit Khattar is Chairman of Mumbai Mantra Media Limited. This company is part of the $14.4 billion Mahindra Group. Mumbai Mantra evaluates opportunities in content and infrastructure in the domestic as well as international media and entertainment space. Mumbai Mantra's Antaheen, won four National Awards including Best Feature Film in 2009. They have also co-produced the film adaptation of Shakespeare's The Tempest directed by Julie Taymor and several other films are in development.

Mumbai Mantra has also made a commitment towards providing a platform for independent voices in Indian cinema to champion an emerging generation of exciting film makers. The first step in that direction was forging of a partnership with the renowned Sundance Institute founded by Robert Redford, for the establishment of the Mumbai Mantra & Sundance Institute Screenwriters Lab, which is an annual event in India, and the Sundance Institute, Mahindra Global Filmmaking Award that is awarded to four international film makers annually at Park City. Rohit is also CMD and founder of Old World Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. It is India's largest live entertainment organizer and operates 2 performing arts and convention centres, 3 hotels and 34 restaurants including 4 in London.

Ms. Tan specializes in intellectual property strategy including procurement, enforcement, licensing, litigation, M&A due diligence, acquiring or selling intellectual property assets, IP backed financing, and patent portfolio management in a variety of technical disciplines. Her background in technology includes social media, cyber content management, cloud computing, clean energy, communications networks and devices, computer architecture, software and Internet applications, semi-conductor devices and global positioning systems.

Before embarking on a career in intellectual property, Ms. Tan was a research scientist at NASA Ames Research Center. She managed technology transfer agreements for the U.S. Army's research laboratoryAero flight Dynamics Directorate. Ms. Tan is also a partner in Reed Smith's Silicon Valley office. She has a Baccalaureate and Masters Degree in Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She is Malaysian-Chinese but spent her formative years growing up in the hills of Tamil Nadu. She has a deep appreciation and understanding of the culture of India.

Mr. Prashant K. Gulati, President of TiE Dubai, is a serial entrepreneur, international business executive and mentor. A post-graduate in Computer Science and Management, he is the promoter and CEO ofOptimistix Ventures, a venture catalysis and consulting company based in Dubai Internet City, Dubai, U.A.E. The company has successfully promoted ventures in the field of Web Services, Outsourcing, Vending, Hospitality, Medicare, Media, Logistics and ICT. He is an active Angel and Early Stage Investor in startups and younger companies and innovative ideas.

Prashant has been associated with media from a very young age, having worked in Radio and Television. He is part of the team that put together the large number of television studios in India that were the catalysts for the explosive growth of television in India. He has produced, edited and written for more than two hundred documentaries of Doordarshan and spent many hours on live radio. Prashant is a founder of theTiE Chapter in Dubai and has been a part of the managing team of the Chapter since its inception. TiE is the only recognized organization of the Indian Business and Professionals in Dubai. Besides TiE, he is an active member of the Indian community in Dubai and the region and is the Secretary General and the youngest elected Governor of the Indian Business & Professional Council, Dubai. Prashant enjoys traveling around the world and is very proud to carry his Indian Passport.

Mr. Mistry is a permanent invitee to the Board & a Legal Advisor. He works as Independent Counsel in the Supreme Court and in various High Courts all over India. The Reserve Bank of India and the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking have been some of his clients. He also works actively for social causes like the rights of disabled persons, beach safety (Goa Action Plan), the setting up of distinct hawking and non-hawking zones in Mumbai, and Spastics Society of India among others. 

Mr. Mistry is a member of the Legal Committee of the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the sub-committee of the Planning Commission, which is reviewing the legislation for disabled persons in India. He has had vast experience in dealing with the media and entertainment industry and has been a consultant to several corporate agencies, high profile individual celebrity clients and the Indian Independent Film makers Worldwide (IIFW). He was invited to assist the Goa law Commission for setting up the first institutional International Arbitration Centre in Goa. He is also a member of the Media Information and Communication Centre of India. He has helped establish Entertainment, Media and Information Lawyers Association (E.M.I.L.A) in India. He is member of the Canadian Bar Associationand chief coordinator of the legal committee formed by the Indo-Canadian Business Chamber.

Prahlad Kakkar is the Advertising Film Director for Genesis Film Production, one of India's oldest and foremost Ad film production houses since its inception in 1977. Prahlad founded Genesis in 1977 and virtually invented a genre of television advertising in India in the years that followed. He has ruled the advertising world with his brand of irreverent humor and memorable brand building campaigns. He has also created award-winning commercials for the most reputed corporates and agencies in India and the Asia Pacific region.


Known as the "Ad guru", Prahlad has been instrumental in changing the face of advertising in our country bringing in the appropriate "regional Indianness" and values into an urban context through his films, creative workshops, articles and interviews. Prahlad's passions include his Scuba diving school in the Lakshadweep islands and Andaman islands and his own brand of gourmet cooking.


Bhawana Somaaya has been a film critic for many years and has contributed columns to publications like The Hindu, The Hindustan Times, The Pioneer and The Sunday Observer.Somaaya is the Film Expert with radio channel 92.7 BIG FM and has a link of Bollywood updates every morning. She has a weekly show on Zee Cinema every Friday. She contributes a weekly column to The Hans India, Janmabhoomi Pravasi and is on the Advisory Panel of Censor Board of Film Certificate.


Bhawana is also the former editor of Screen and has authored eleven books on cinema. Mother, Maiden, Mistress is her eleventh book. Other books include biographies of Hema Malini and a trilogy on Amitabh Bachchan: The Legend (1999), Bachchanalia (2009) and AmitabLexicon (2011). She has two more books in the pipeline. Her books are a point of reference for students studying cinema at Whistling Woods and Manipal University.


Lily Paul is currently the Director for Community Development with Hippocampus Learning Centres, who are taking quality and joyful learning to rural India through education centers. Prior to that, she was the Director of the Entrepreneur to Entrepreneur program for Ashoka Innovators for the Public in India—creating a unique network of business people to support Ashoka's work with social entrepreneurs was also part of the global Ashoka team that partnered with the Lemelson Foundation to support technologies for societies.


Lily is also one of the founding members of Chrysalis—a training and counseling group that works with adults and children to build life-skills through workshops and counseling. Lily has also served on the advisory board in 2007 for SPW in India, an international development organization working in Africa and South Asia. Lily holds a post-graduate degree in Economics from Chennai University and is based in Bangalore.


Nutan holds a Masters in Career & Development Psychology and a P.G. Diploma in School Counseling. She is trained in Neuro-linguistic Programming and Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy and has trained in two levels of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) training, along with a number of other psychological counseling and skill-based courses and programmes.


Nutan has a private practice in Bandra where she offers psychological assessment and therapy to both children and adult clients, who may be psychiatric, school or self-referred. She specializes in treating clients with histories or ongoing traumas of varied intensities including domestic violence, childhood abuse, depression, anxiety and life-stresses. Her strength lies in using EMDR and a mix of other approaches in sessions and in empowering clients with tools and techniques to take the counseling process forward independently.
